When a Broadway musical makes puppets its stars and wins the Tony Award for the best musical, I needed to find out more. So this week I interviewed the stars of Avenue Q Australia, Mitchell Butel who plays Rod and Princeton and Luke Joslin who plays Nicky and Trekkie at the Theatre Royal in Sydney to find out the secret behind these strange ‘puppets’ that are taking the world by storm. And by pure coincidence after more than six years on Broadway, the original Avenue Q production will close on Broadway today, but the Australian production will run for another year.

At the recent Australian Business Events Expo 2009, in Sydney, I was privileged to interview the gorgeous Tracy Dennis, an “IT Girl”. An International three-week intensive Puppetry for Television and the Web Workshop will take place at the Wesley Institute for the Arts in Sydney from 11 to 30 January 2010. It will be produced by Gary Friedman Productions and aimed at anyone interested in producing, performing and directing puppetry for television and the internet.
